Hi, I’m Chris Baskin.
Clay is both material and metaphor. It holds memory, movement, and the weight of time. My work is rooted in the long tradition of handmade pottery—drawing inspiration from historic and archetypal forms, wood-fired surfaces, and the quiet balance of well-made objects. I make functional ceramics that bring presence to daily rituals and cremation urns that serve as vessels for remembrance. Each piece carries the marks of process—thrown, shaped, and transformed by fire.
I teach pottery through small group classes, private instruction, and soda firing workshops, helping others engage with the medium in their own way.
